Can you tell us a little about yourself?
A little bit about myself hmm. The hilarious part of that question is I think anyone whos come across my gallery knows more about me than they probably want to. But here goes. I am 24, despite my inability to act like it. I am a medical school drop out. [I know, WHAT?] I had to move and just never transferred my credits. Not that I regret it, having my first patient go into asystole on me kinda ruined it. That and at some point my own failing heath would make it impossible anyway. Besides, I dont think hospitals approve of projectile vomiting every time a squeamish employee has to suction. I currently work at a Deli, and will kill you if you come into my deli and ask if we have ham with the case right there in front of you.
No seriously, I will jump the counter. If I get one more stupid question like that I will lose my mind.
I live with my significant other and my sibling [which I am very attached to, so yes I will talk a lot about.] My sister and I actually share a computer and several accounts [some of you will know from my livestream raging because she changed my name]. Were all we had as kids, so Ive been unable to separate from her.
Im a hazard to myself as Im sure people who watch me realized. Ive got new injuries every day almost. I try to keep it on the down-low to some extent, but I do have Congestive Heart Failure, which was progressed a handful of years back by a massive infection. For this reason, I do volunteer work at hospitals still when I can, to support those suffering like I have.
Most people instantly dislike me, which is cool too. But despite all my loud mouthing, Im not really a horrible person and it often confuses me how people can hate me over one thing I post without knowing the person behind it.
`PainInTheAssimilated, how did you find deviantART?
I came across dA because of a web design class I took with my broski ~CancerofAesthetics and my dear sweet torture delivering sister, who thought web design would be a fun class first thing in the morning. Fairly new school and I have attachment issues. I dont like being alone in places Im unfamiliar with. So I told her to just pick an elective as my level of caring about the actual class was nonexistentand my bro and I would sign up for it with her. Some where in the forsaken course of the class, I needed some stock for my play page. Which brought me to dA. Obviously, these travesty pages werent published, because Id never use stock like my teacher wanted me to, but it brought my sister to create an account here and that part is relevant to the next question.
How did you get your username, or what does it symbolize?
My sister had been on dA for a few years and she created `PainInTheAssimilated as a club account. Well, my sister is as fleeting as I can be and she promptly forgot all about it. Here I come, to find that this account had been dead for a whole year. So, I bartered the password out of her and she let me keep it. Originally, this was something of a play account to see how long it would take for me to get banned just being myself. Which .clearly never happened..
What do you like most about deviantART?
Ive met some seriously rad people on dA. Even as much flak as dA seems to get from professional artists, and I think the amount of talent on this site is mind blowing; I dont think dA has to be a professional artist hangout or drop all the silly stuff because some people dont have a sense of humor. Some people say dA needs to be more serious so the professional artists can make business, but I honestly think half of the charm of dA is the imperfection. Imperfection is what makes me happy. The ability to watch people grow as artists over years is enjoyable. Ive watched my sister go from messy photoshop disasters, to fluid and clean poster work. Also Watching people go up in flames of unholy rage from the depths of the netherworld over a one day April fools avatar change never ceases to amuse me.
Are there any deviantART features that you have never used?
Hmm...I havent used Muro all that much. I mean Ive doodled a time or two in it, but not really too often. But I guess other than using something very little, I have tried everything about dA. I always try the new stuff that gets launched. I wont deny that I do hide the llama badges and I rarely give them.
How old were you when you first became interested in art?
When I was old enough to pick up a crayon my mother would stand across from me and hold my hand to teach me how to make the crayon do its magic. [Which is also why I am a forced lefty, my mothers right hand instructed me to use my left hand without her realizing]. My style of art has never been solidified because I do too much of everything to stick to one style. In elementary I was mostly into watercolors and anything I could make a mess with. When I was in middle school I did poster sized charcoal sketches and actually sold my first commission in 6th grade. I spent most of my time with pencils, charcoal, and markers. Man, I love markers. I learned MSpaint when we got our first computer many years ago. I didnt even realize what I was doing was considered an art form, because at the time, I just did what I did not thinking more than: Create!. I started with Photoshop 3 back in 94, I think it was. My friends dad had it and we tinkered around on it. In high school I started working with clay, met Prismacolor for the first time, and discovered I love ball point pens. I was bumped up to an advanced class in Art because my teacher couldnt see forcing me to draw chairs all day.
Looking back at it, art has always been part of my existence.
Which artists (off and on dA) inspire you?
Of course my sister and my broski ~CancerofAesthetics. COA is an amazing writer, even if he doesnt think so himself. *moni158s work makes me appreciate anime/manga style a lot. Her style is just fluid and charming. *aiki-ame is the same way, usually. Im not fond of that style, but Ive been following her since my sister found her back when she was new. Which brings me to *TonomuraBix and ~midwaymilly, two others I found in my siss fav section. Bix makes Prisma pencils look like the tools of god and Slayers-Nerd has such a unique anime/cartoon style, I cant help but like it.
As for non-deviants, as typical as this sounds, da Vinci was a big influence. I sketched in his style for most of my sophomore art class.
What are your pet peeves on dA?
Ah, the pet peeve list. The most prominent one comes of being a Group contributor and founder, when I post specific instructions for things and people ask me how questions. I certainly understand if people misunderstand it, but if the question can be clearly answered in what I wrote, it does get on my nerves. Because clearly they did not read. I do get very annoyed seeing screencaps on dA. Possibly because most of the people guilty of it who I speak to, honestly think shoving a screencap through a motivational poster generator is art because they wrote a corny little sentence. Which just makes me wish I had delete powers, because screen caps would be hunted like quail. Recently, Ive been peeved with people mindlessly saying this doesnt deserve a DD when its a personal opinion for one, and for two DDs arent awards. People dont want crappy DDs, but they dont want popular artists to get DDs. What the hell do you want?
Recently, there has been a lot of controversy about buying pageviews with points. What is your view on this?
For the people making the points, go you. You know what youre doing. But for the people buying pageviews Honestly, I think its pathetic. Pageviews are worthless anyway, Ive proved it if anything because I can get 2000 pageviews in a day and have hundreds of people tell me Im an ass. Pageviews dont equal quality or even decent personality and having more pageviews isnt going to make you more likely to be noticed. Most of the people who want more pageviews are also some of the same people who dont participate in the community beyond their inbox. Im everywhere of course, my inbox gets ignored some times as a result
What type of music are you into?
Some of the unfortunate victims got to listen to me karaoke on livestream a while back and theyll probably tell you I have terrible taste in music. I listen to everything but explicit rap. Being a product of the 80s Im very more attracted to the 80s and 90s music. My favorite band will probably always remain The Eagles, followed closely by Genesis, the Police and Nine Inch Nails. I do find myself attracted to Christian music despite not being Christian, like Amy Grant, Skillet and Barlow Girl. So really, its not a type of music I like, its if the music hits home. My iPod is a total mess because of that.
What kind of movies are you into?
BATMAN. God I love me some Bats. Im excited for the third Batman movie actually. Not only is it because of Bane, but because Christian Bale is a hunk of man. Aside from Batman, Im a fan of Christopher Nolans directing and The Prestige is probably my favorite movie ever. Other than the occasional Nolan film, Im usually the last person to see a movie. I just cant sit still.
Though I am totally going to watch my Season One Box Set of Xena after this.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I probably talked too much already. Fun though.
Thanks for featuring me. Though Im hardly interesting.
I'd like to say a huge thanks to `PainInTheAssimilated for taking the time to be interviewed.

That reminds me of a quote from "Hellboy" where John Myers says: "My uncle used to say that we like people for their qualities but we love them for their defects."
and shaddap! We all who listened you sing know you have an amazing taste in music. CELINE DION FTW!
Also, THAT KARAOKE LIVESTREAM WAS AWESOME. Like the Britney Spears.
That's how you spell her name, right?
My view on pageviews for points is about the same.
Nice interview.
Great article!
