February is the month that usually gets short-changed, since it only has 28-days. This year, however, it has a "leap" day! The added day every four-years is done in order to keep the calendar year synchronized with the astronomical or seasonal year. So, does that mean anyone born on February 29th in a leap year only ages a year for every four years he/she is alive? :confused: :giggle:

Community Projects - UpdateHi! I'm Hunter, your "new" Community Projects volunteer! I hope our time together will be awesome and productive, and to further this goal I've prepared this... um... brief update to let you all know of some changes coming to the Community Projects gallery, and how we're going to continue in 2012! So here we go! 
Changes to Community Projects
 
So this year we're going to do things a bit differently. My primary goal as Community Projects CV is to support you, the community. Community Projects doesn't exist solely to run our own projects, we're primarily here to help you out with yours. If you want to run a Project, read this article, as it will explain things in greater detail, and then send a note to $haldron.

Promote an Actively Caring DeviantARTI just came from a speech given by Shane McCarty about Actively Caring for People, a movement started by a psychology professor and five students at Virginia Tech to promote active caring simply by using wristbands. When someone saw an actual act of kindness and they had a green band saying "Actively Caring", the person with the band would go up to that individual and physically hand them a wristband saying "I appreciate you doing that, if you ever see someone actively caring, pass it on" or something to that extent. He told his story to me and my student body how he decided four days after the Virginia Tech Shooting in 2006 to become a part of the school and community, he doesn't have any friends or family that experienced a loss from that day. As he continued, he described how at that moment when everyone was mourning, everyone was showing how they truly cared. Recently, I announced changes to Daily Deviations in this journal and I'm happy to say that the response has been favorable.  To review, we have made the following changes:
a> The "3-month rule" is now the "6-month rule" meaning an artist cannot receive another DD if they have had one in the last 6 months.
b> Daily Deviation selectors are limited to a maximum of one selection per day.  This has been put in place to focus on quality vs quantity.
The hard-coding of these new guidelines is now in place (special thanks to $ZombieCoder for that :heart:).

Daily Deviations UpdateHappy Monday Morning  :dance:
I started this morning by signing something "Moonbam13" so either this typo means I need more coffee, or this week is going to be BAMTASTIC!
I'm rooting for the latter ;)
I wanted to post a quick update on changes to Daily Deviations.  It is important to note that these changes have not been hard-coded so my team is manually following these new guidelines.  This means that errors can and likely will occur until the coding is complete, your patience and understanding is appreciated :)  
The following guideline changes are in effect:
:bulletred: The 3-month rule is now the 6-month rule, meaning that it must be at least 6-months since the last time an artist received a daily deviation. (This was an overwhelmingly popular suggestion from the community and I agree, it's a good one!)
:bulletred:  Daily deviation selectors may only select one daily deviation per day maximum. This has been put in place to focus on Quality vs Quantity.
